Biographies

We have had a busy week!  It's been great to be in the classroom for a whole week:  no workshops, sick kids or sick me! ha   I love teaching different Genres after I finish teaching Comprehension Strategies.  These are my 2 go-to books!

They have great activites and lessons to use.  So last week we learned about the genres of Autobiograhy & Biography.  Then during Guided Reading groups the kids chose which person they wanted to research.  My kids are loving these books!

Then as they were reading they needed to take notes so they could then prepare a Goggle Slides presentation to present their famous person.  This was their recording sheet.

Putting together a slide show on Google slides is what my students perfer and we have a class set of Chromebooks for third grade to share.  This made it easy for them to work!  They then had to dress up as the person they researched.  They all did such a great job!  Even the shy students get up & speak loud & clear & boost their self confidence.  Her are some pictures I tried to take while they were presenting of the famous people who stopped by yesterday!!
Taylor Swift

Clara Barton

Thomas Edison

Sacagawea

Harry Houdini

George Washington

Maria Tallchief

One of J.K Rowling's character- Harry Potter

Some other famous people:  Amelia Earhart, Helen Keller, Daniel Boone, Queen Elizabeth,
Jackie Robinson, Bill Gates, Annie Oakley

Then as they finished they needed to fill out a self assessment on how they fill they did during the whole project.

A little late but here are some photos from the 80th Day of School which was back in January, like the 1st day after Christmas break!  We had a fun time learning about the 80's!  Some things just blew the kids minds, like the TV show Punky Brewster, who remembers that tv show?!?!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend & do something fun!!
